Baja NOW RACE DAY - Midnight Mayhem VIII September 24, 2017
Last weekend at Iowa BAJA, our team traveled over 8 hours to Midnight Mayhem VIII in Bedford Kentucky. Midnight Mayhem is one of the three races we travel to during our year. Teams from around the country travel to the Nikota Motorsports Park to take part in the usual race day tests, like a Technical Inspection, Acceleration, and Maneuverability.
After these were completed, the teams began to repair their cars and prepare for the Endurance race, which this year was 6 hours ending at Midnight, longer than ever before. All of our new members who traveled to Kentucky were able to get in the car for their first Baja experience on Kentucky's challenging and demanding course. The Endurance race revealed the true durability of Iowa BAJA designs, with both cars only having to pull off the track for fuel and minor repairs.
When the race was over, our cars not only survived relatively unscathed but also were able to show our new members what our designs need to be able to withstand. Results will be posted soon, and pictures from the race can be seen on our Iowa BAJA Facebook Page. Stay Tuned for our next race, MTU Blizzard Baja in Houghton, Michigan this February!
