Baja NOW Weekly Update: November 19, 2017

This weekend at the Baja Shop the team drove out to the new testing site to play around and determine the best routes for future testing. Shop wasn't officially running today as most members had gone home to spend time with their families for the Thanksgiving Break, but a few members showed up to get some small stuff done. Spencer Van-Dorn, Mitch Evens, Eric Jones, and Rob Pohren started out by tightening up the bolts and double checking the welds on car #88. They ran into a few minor problems with some wheel studs but got it fixed up and ready to drive.

Car #88 was lifted up on the trailer and hauled to the testing site. There both Mitch and Rob drove it around collecting data with an accelerometer. They also were driving around scouting out the best trails to do future suspension and brake testing on the new car. While testing Mitch realized he needs a less bulky shoe on his right foot so Rob was kind enough to help him out.

It was good to get out there [the test site] and see what we had to work with to figure out the best places for future testing courses.

After trying out the new test site for a couple hours the team hauled the car back to the Baja Shop and moved it back inside. Mitch, Rob, and Spencer then drove out to the Baja Trailer to evaluate damage of a wheel bearing. After inspection, they found the wheel bearing shattered. They are now searching for a company to help them replace it.

We need to get this fixed before our trip to Michigan Tech.

If you know any company that would be willing to aid Iowa Baja in reparing our trailer wheel bearing, please contact us as soon as possible.

All in all, it was a slow but fun day for the team. There was a lot of really cool videos and pictures taken out at the testing site that will be posted periodically so make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram so you don’t miss out!

Thank you and have a great Thanksgiving!
