Baja NOW: Week Update: December 1, 2021

After our very first race of the year, Iowa Baja has been making quite a bit of progress in the shop!

Carson Kruse (president) bending primary tubing to make up the bottom part of the frame.

At each Wednesday meeting, each design team has put together a presentation summarizing progress made for each component of the car. The presentations include summary of how each subsystem works and what we are improving on for this years car.

In our design this year we are manipulating geometry to allow us to get better turning radius out of our front CV axels without compromising strength.
— Ben Denson (front suspension)
We are getting rid of our rear differential and chain drive and going to a gear driven transfer case.
— Carson Kruse (drive train)
We are changing the mounting position of our trailing arms for improved performance.
— Parker Zeman (rear suspension)
We are working on force calculations and proper distribution of load for peak performance in addition to brake pedal and master cylinder placement.
— Xavier Schario (brakes)

Sponsor Highlight

This past Wednesday, we were fortunate enough to get a visit from one of our sponsors, RFA Engineering. They gave us a brief presentation about their awesome company which offers product development & engineering services in all areas of heavy machine. Thank you RFA!

Our Sundays have been busy with frame work. We got new material for the car and began bending our frame. Over fall break, our team members got the floor and firewall of the frame completed. We are now working in completing the roll cage.

Colton DeLanoit welding together parts of our frame.

We have also been working on fixing damages from our Stout race. We are hoping to get all three cars back out for our next race.

We are always looking for donations to our team. We accept material, machine time, as well as monetary donations. For more information, check out the "Sponsors" page of our website.
