Baja NOW: Update (11/6/2022)

Iowa Baja had some successful events for homecoming week!

On October 22nd, Iowa Baja attended the Backwoods Baja race in Stout, WI. Overall, the race went pretty smoothly. This year, we participated in the car carry where you take off the tires, carry the car a short distance, then put all the tires back on. Unfortunately, one of our bolts got bent, but we got the tires on eventually and completed the dynamic event.

We sent two cars to the endurance with no major breakdowns. 51s front steering got stuck at one point and 33 had some carburetor issues, but we finished off the race pretty strong.

We also had the opportunity to participate in the homecoming parade this year. We had an absolute blast!

We also participated in the Engineering After Party after the parade. We hosted a Nascar-style event. Participants had to take off the tire, tap it on the ground, and put it back on the stand. The participant with the fastest time won. We had some great competitors.

Our annual Iowa Baja Alumni Tailgate was hosted for the Northwestern v. Iowa football game. It was great to see all of our alumni supporters! It was a great day for a Hawkeye win.

As for shop times, our cars are all under construction. Small tweaks are being made to improve the performance of our existing cars, while design groups are up and running for our new vehicle for this years nationals. Stay tuned for updates!

We are always looking for donations to our team. We accept material, machine time, as well as monetary donations. For more information, check out the "Sponsors" page of our website.
